Guided Walks in Andalucia

As well as writing walking guides and creating hiking itineraries for British, American and Dutch walking companies I’ve been leading guided walks in Andalucia for more than 30 years.

My aim on any walk is to offer you a uniquely beautiful full or half day excursion and share with you my passion for my adopted country. Whilst we’re walking I’ll tell you about local folklore, medicinal and edible plants, the region’s history, geology and agriculture as well as pointing out birds, mammals and insects.

Best of all, I’ll lead you along some of the most beautiful mountain trails in southern Europe.

Amongst my most popular guided walks are the following trails:

Montejaque Circuit: The Hidden Valley Walk

An unforgettable 4-5 hour circular walk departing from Montejaque, one of the Sierra de Grazalema’s most beautiful villages. The walk leads us through remarkable karst formations to a hidden valley at the heart of the Park.

From Grazalema to Benaocáz via Cortijo Dornajo

This walk numbers amongst southern Europe’s most beautiful hiking trails and well deserves its ‘classic trail’ status. From Grazalema a stunning mountain path leads us over a high pass then down through ancient woodland to the sleepy village of Benaocáz.

Zahara de la Sierra: The Walk of the Griffon Vultures

The walk departs from one of the Grazalema Park’s most emblematic villages, Zahara de la Sierra. After crossing open farmland it follows a river valley to the top of the Breña pass where eagles and vultures ride the winds. On the homeward leg you’re treated to stunning views out to the gorges of Garganta Seca and Garganta Verde.
